Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. San Bernardino County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be kept long enough to review it and respond. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive standard technical details about that visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring site, when one is available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic information, such as which pages receive visits and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though disabling them may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
San Bernardino County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the San Bernardino County Sheriff, the Superior Court of California, the California Department of Justice, and the California Megan's Law Website. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person. California Public Records Act requests go to the public office holding the record, while Penal Code sections 11105 and 13300 limit access to state and local summary criminal history.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention rules, and disclosure practices govern information submitted to those tools. Those practices are outside this site's control, so review the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the San Bernardino County Sheriff, court portals, California agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for interest-based advertising. That tracking is controlled by those providers.
